Kensington
A new build project in collaboration with Alloy Homes. The homeowner was a huge lover of midcentury design and wanted that reflected in her home however she also had a collection of antique furniture, accessories and artwork from across the globe that she wanted worked in to the design. The challenge here was to meld all of her pieces together and create a home that was modern but of course one that still felt warm and inviting.
We chose warm tones throughout the house from the cabinets to the flooring, The kitchen with this stunning and unique kitchen island design in a gorgeous granite is a show stopper and aids to creating that warmth in the space. A unique custom mid century inspired screen separates the entry from the kitchen and filters in the light beautifully in the 2 spaces. A large dining space is grounded by the built-in reeded sideboard. The living space is accented with custom millwork that is in a dark, rich, brown to help accent the clients collection of worldly accessories. A mix of antiques in the space makes it feel curated and chic.
The staircase is kept simple with a wood and metal railing, however is highlighted with the unique detail on the tread and riser. This leads to the upper level and principal bedroom which is clad in a dark stained oak and built in nightstands, creating a cozy sanctuary. The principal bath is light, airy, and spa like. A warm marble looking tile is on the floor and shower, allowing for a seamless transition.
