Project of the Month – Mount Pleasant Residence

Our Mount Pleasant residence was a collaboration with Alloy Homes. A modern family home that does not lack in any style. The whole home has a cool and calming vibe that we cannot get enough of, hope you won’t either!

The exterior of this Mount Pleasant home is as exquisite as the interior. A large, black framed entry door leads to an open space with a high ceiling and a blue barn door to the office.

Leading up to the second level is this picturesque staircase. White oak treads and open risers are outlined in white stringers and a black string capping for a sharp finish. Rhythm of the stairs is directed by the glass pane baluster, opening up the space.

The focal point of this space is the white marble cladded fireplace. This subtle finish allows the pastel colours to be elevated. The built-ins on either side compliment the space with white drawers blending with the white walls and a black floating edge for an asymmetrical feature. Furniture is kept simple for a refined look and gives off coastal vibes. Minimal form accessories keep this living space bright and clean.

The material selections for the kitchen were inspired by the sizeable windows and black framing in this Alloy Homes build. The marble herringbone backsplash is installed up to the bulkhead brightens the kitchen as the daylight reflects off it. Upper cabinetry was omitted from this design to make this area open and inviting. In place, are some floating shelves for cook books and greenery. White finishes were the main selections for a modern aesthetic, contrasting with the blue toned island and is completed with a single sided waterfall edge. A welcoming environment is ensured through the layout of the kitchen and dining. The island allows for five people to sit at and is open to the dining area, highlighted by the multi-globe chandelier above.

The main floor powder room walls are fully covered with patterned wallpaper from MissPrint, bringing out the blue that is in the rest of the home. A matte black finish is also used to fit with the concept of the house.

The upstairs bathroom has a clean, fresh look.  A 1×1 blue square mosaic silhouettes the shower plumbing fixtures and is repeated in a large niche. With white subway tile and white cabinetry, chrome and matte fixtures become the focus.

Tall, narrow windows seem to be a theme in this house, and it doesn’t stop at the master suite. On one side of the bed, this window sits behind the walnut nightstand, enhancing the height of the space. Simple white bedding and textured pillows were used to allow the textured wallpaper to be the statement here.

Off the master bedroom is a luxurious ensuite. Porcelain tiled flooring, made to look like marble, continues onto the walls and ceiling of the shower for a wow factor. Grey mosaic tile is used in a wall to wall niche for a compliment to the marble veining. A freestanding bathtub gets a high profile as it sits front and center of the window and is accompanied by tall greenery for a calm setting. Opposite of the shower is a floating double vanity dressed in white with a wall length mirror. This lightens the bathroom and enhances its lavishness.
