Friday Favourites

Happy Friday, design lovers! Curves are the hot ticket item in design right now, from furniture to art and accessories. We have curated our top picks that have all the curve appeal!

Aly is swooning over the Mero Counter Stool from The Citizenry. It is made of Mindi wood, handcrafted in Indonesia by The Woodworkers of Jepara. The curves of the modest material add a delicacy in the kitchen. It can work with a Scandinavian setting or add a twist to a modern setting. The time to complete this masterpiece counter stool equals to 18 days. With fine details of the merging of joints, the result is worth the time spent making it – a refined form. All joints intersect like a puzzle, only using screws to hold the seat in place. This piece of furniture brings the beauty of a natural, local material and gives it a new life.

Katie loves these prints from Fieldstudy. Out of the “Tranquility” collection, she especially favors Tranquility III Print. The simple, linear art piece is printed on archival matte paper for a more natural visual texture. The use of neutral, beige and peach colours is brilliant because it allows the scene to stand out and still leaving room for some variation in each print. The prints picture a mountain scene under a large sun, making it a quirky and elegant collection.

Alison would love to see more of this 1900s inspired sink, called Antoniolupi, designed by Roberto Lazzeroni. The dark wood curves flawlessly around the basin, with two horizontal layers to cover the underside of the basin without completely blocking it off. This is a wall-mounted sink that is supported by two vertical legs that narrow at the bottom. The elegance this sink offers is perfect for a minimalistic powder room.

Shaelynn is inspired by the ceramics done by Judith Lemmens. Her brand, Julems, has provided a variety of different works such as the geometric patterned pot. Lemmens gets her inspiration from geometrics and natural elements. This is visible in this pot. The surface shows half-moons painted in black with a golden hue for the bottom and outlining. The base shows a speckled beige, bringing out the natural look. Julems makes each piece unique while still harmonizing with the rest of her pieces, making it a beautiful collection.

Leina came across Wren, the Sky Garden Planter Light from Warmly Décor. This pendant leads to a curved form with a globe lamp on the inner top half and a planter on the inner bottom half. The fixture is made from metal with an iron finish for a modern aesthetic. It is completed with long, hanging greens for a natural element and makes the space more inviting. As a whole, this pendant adds visual interest in the space.
