Friday Favourites

Happy Friday, design lovers! Upholstery and orb forms are what we’re favouring this week. Keep scrolling to read about these refined #FridayFaves.

Katie loves this charming, little Iris Dune lamp from Schoolhouse. The hand-spun steel shade sits on the base and can pivot and rotate for more flexibility. The finishes consist of a satin finish and mineral textures that allow the matte LED to cast a soft glow. A Schoolhouse original such as this table lamp adds character to a small space.

Aly is swooning over the Trapeze 7 Mobile from Apparatus Studio. The shades, in the form of a dome, allow the light to be directed outward to create a warm, ambient glow. The combination of gold-finished rods and linear form, make this chandelier stand out as an art piece; perfect for over a dining area. This fixture is built to a custom length, making this to also work in a high ceiling space.

Shaelynn is inspired by the textile prints by Mijo Studio. Their motive is to merge their individual aesthetics to create Scandinavian-inspired goods. The designers, Miranda Tengs Brun and Josefine Gilbert, make beautiful textiles by hand painting brush strokes and shapes. Among their work, they have made this blue focused print. The bold colour, with hints of yellow tones, is engaging. To have this in a home would brighten up a space and add visual interest.

Alison is captured by the appeal of the Anson Oak Ottoman from Crate and Barrel. The upholstered ottoman is a modern piece with the use of windowpane plaid and natural wood. The round legs and broad apron are made out of solid maple, which complements the neutral cushion. The beauty of this ottoman fits nicely in an inviting setting and is proved to be functional with its multi-purposes.

Leina came across a dining table you don’t see every day. The Kalasha Dining Table from Anthropologie makes a functional piece of furniture a structural beauty in the dining space. The three legs balance the tabletop and incorporate large bulbous forms at varying heights for visual interest. This table is made up of solid wood material to compliment the space with the unique form.
