Friday Favourites

Happy Friday, design lovers! As we head into the holiday season, the AVD team feels inspired by berry shades and unique design finds. We hope this week’s round-up of #FridayFaves will leave you inspired too.

Katie loves all things fab! The Ines Upholstered metal chair from Calligaris demonstrates just that! The palm pattern upholstery is something that was used in what seemed to be every dining chair. Now, with vibrant colour and polished gold framing, this dining chair is elevated to fit a modern setting. The metal frame supports the curved seat and backrest in a charming manner. This is suitable for anyone looking to add some visual interest and have a love for pattern.

Alison has good taste in tiles when it comes to Fireclay Tile. The Pheasant Matte tile is a satiny-matte finish. The surface is applied by hand for a matte glaze. These tiles are handmade to order. The craftsmanship includes a process called silk screening, offering great depth and complexity to the glass tile. The edges are naturally soft which happens during the cooling process. The terracotta pigment is rich and looks smooth for a polished look in any space.

Shaelynn came across a very crafty woman named Bettina Schori. She is known for upcycling household objects and giving them a new life in a new object, such as this light fixture. Since everything is upcycled, no product is the same. This collection of pendants features figures such as a squirrel and face. They are so small, they remain discrete in their design. It has the ability to add a touch of colour or mix metals for a very unique element in the home.

Leina had the Tap Bath Tapwell Evo-078 catch her eye this week. This faucet from Superfront, in copper, is a Swedish Tapwell made in Italy. The copper mixer has an antique finish that gives it a patina look over time, rather than looking shiny like other copper fixtures. The tap is left untreated to develop its natural patina and adding character to a space.

Aly is swooning over this Diamanta Alpaca Throw from the Citizenry. It is handwoven in Peru by the weavers of Huancavelica. It is made of 100% baby alpaca and is woven into diamond patterns. Each throw takes about a week to make, making this an ultra-soft, luxury throw blanket.
