Friday Favourites

Happy Friday, design lovers! This week’s picks are giving us all the Art Deco vibes! We are all about the gorgeous curves, brass accents and luxe materials.

Katie loves the technique in creating the Paipai Large Settee from Ligne Roset. The structure of the armrests emphasizes the curves on the sofa and is finished with a teal velvet upholstery. It is constructed out of mechanically soldered steel joining the seat and armrest. The mass of this furniture is held up by black finished steel so thin that the sofa seems like it is floating. This is unique because although it looks like it should be heavy, the cushions make it look elegant and weightless. The teal upholstery adds drama to a space.

Shaelynn is awe-struck by the Perch Light from Katy Skelton. This pendant is totally customizable, from the height to the finish. The warm glow produced on either end of the perpendicular lumbar is a small touch of beauty. The custom size allows for so much flexibility in styling a space and making a more dramatic look. The stunning finish of brass brings a flare of art deco to the table – or above the table, so to speak. A delicate light fixture such as this is beautiful over a dining area and adds some visual interest to the space.

Alison can’t handle all the cuteness that this pendant has to offer. The Eloise Pendant in mint from Anthropologie gives off vintage vibes with an overall form that looks straight from the 50s and tuft-like details. The milk glass shade and oiled brass hardware brings out a feminine charm to a space and illuminates a unique glow.

Leina is feeling the glam with the Tako cabinet from De Castelli. The façade has such a subtle art deco inspired pattern that emphasizes the graciousness of the metallic finish. This console has simple lines to evokes a Japanese inspired design with door fronts that modulate reflections and filters light. There are different options for patterns but are still refined as to not compromise the design.

Aly is swooning over the Kayla Coffee Table from Rawan Isaac. The mix of finishes is so chic and thoughtfully completed that it makes it a true masterpiece. The base is made of hammered metal with marble slabs separating the foundation and a glass tabletop. From a side profile, the base is symmetrical, as if two of the same pieces are put together and held by the thin glass on top. This furniture piece portrays a dramatic look that has it all – textured metal, smooth marble and thin glass.
