Design Crush – Hash, Yerevan

Design Crush – Hash, Yerevan

Retail spaces are unique in that they have the potential of using materials that really reflect the product and brand of the company. The key is to do it in a way that doesn’t seem corporate, and that is exactly what is represented at Hash, a skincare shop in Yerevan, Armenia.

Hash is a skincare shop in Rio Mall in Yerevan, Armenia. The architects, BARDI Studio designed this space in 2018 to resemble the all-natural skincare products. Tuf, an Armenian volcanic rock, was used to build the feature table and sales desk, which is centered between walls of shelving. The brick island is intended for customers to sit down and try products and has a solid painted base for a modern touch. The signage is a modest size on the back wall, off-center and below black pendants above the sales desk. The building materials, such as the brick and the colours sage and rose, facilitate the organic nature that the store represents. For a unique addition to the brand, the diving wall highlights the four key ingredients in Hash products.

Green shelving units are used to highlight the skincare products along the sides of the shop. Storage for products and space was the primary focus of this shop. Besides the sage shelving, storage was added behind the dividing wall so it was out of sight from customers.

As seen from the floor plan, the layout is symmetrical and brought to life with natural materials and colours. The space is made up of straight lines, which directs the customer’s eyes through the store. This also helps bring together a modern look and organic textures. The ceiling has visual interest in itself. With a white, corrugated ceiling and white track lights, the space feels light, as you would want to feel when walking in.
