Project of the Month – XO Treatment Room

Project of the Month – XO Treatment Room

Project of the Month. We are excited to share our most recent commercial project for XO Treatment Room. Working with Annie was an absolute delight and we were thrilled that she thought of us to help her with the new look for XO.

In this commercial project, we were privileged to help with the layout of the treatment rooms and allow space for a new room so the owner, Annie, could produce new handmade skincare products. The renovation was a success and brought more attention to XO which is located in the heart of Calgary!

It was important to have a space that represented the brand of the business. To do that, we went with a black and white theme to be on-brand but also added some unique elements to give the space some grit. Black is used as an accent throughout and is displayed through the black painted exposed ceiling, lower black painted walls, the reception desk and, of course, the products! The finishes in the public area have an industrial look to compliment the black and white theme. We opted for concrete flooring as a foundation and continued the concrete finish on the wall behind the reception desk. This wall was enhanced with a brushed look for more texture and visual interest in the space. This facilitates the focal point of the reception desk upon entering. The reception desk is finished with a black marble laminate for a luxurious look in the industrial setting. Black and white prints were also incorporated into this space for a personal touch, relating to the brand.

The lighting was a unique addition to the space as it is described as two X’s on either side of a supporting bar. These “X’s” are illuminated by elongated Edison bulbs, making these the most suitable light fixtures for XO Treatment room.

The entry is open to a quaint seating area against the large windows viewing the streets of downtown. This area includes black-framed furniture, a layered rug and cowhide, and greenery! The rattan chairs and leather poufs add warmth to the space to keep it mindful and welcoming. Mirroring the windows, is a wall-mounted black grid as a functional backdrop for XO’s branded bottles. A simple white oak material was used here for the shelves as to not take away from the products.

As a result, the look evokes the edgy brand and we couldn’t be happier with this project!
